BC Barista Coffee Vacuum — FAQ

Product Guide

BC Barista Coffee Vacuum — Common Questions Answered

We all love coffee — but the cleanup after making it? Maybe not so much. The BC Barista Coffee Vacuum was built for exactly that: keeping your coffee station clean easily and your grinder free of residue, so you can spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying your brew.

It is designed for coffee station and grinder cleaning — think coffee grounds, fine dust, and the small particles that end up everywhere after making coffee. It also helps you clean your grinder easily, so old coffee residue doesn't build up in there over time. We've gathered some of the most frequently asked questions below to help you get the most out of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Why does my vacuum only blow air and not suction?

This is almost always caused by the brush head being installed the wrong way around.

Please check that the brush attachment is connected to the correct port — the suction port is at the top of the device. If the accessory has been inserted into the bottom port, it will blow air instead of suctioning.

Quick fix: Remove the brush head, flip it around, and reattach it to the correct port. Refer to the product photos for the correct attachment direction.
2

My vacuum won't turn on.

The power button requires a long press to turn on — a quick tap will not work. This is by design to prevent accidental power-on. Please press and hold the button for 2–3 seconds until it powers on.

If the device is fully charged and a long press still does not turn it on, please record a short video and send it to our customer service team at hello@brewingculture.com.au. We will assess whether it is a genuine fault. If confirmed, we will send a replacement.

3

I'm not satisfied with the suction power.

The vacuum has two speed settings. Most customers don't realise this and only ever use setting one. Once the vacuum is turned on with a long press, it starts on setting one — press the button again to switch to setting two (maximum power). Many customers find the difference significant, so make sure you've tried both.

Keep in mind that this vacuum is designed specifically for coffee station and grinder cleaning. The suction power is calibrated for coffee grounds, fine dust, and small particles in that environment — not for general household use. If you believe your vacuum could be faulty and would like us to check for you, we recommend doing the following test:

How to correctly test your vacuum

  1. Place a small amount of coffee grounds (not whole beans) on your coffee station or a flat surface.
  2. Turn on the vacuum and switch to the second (highest) speed setting.
  3. Hold the nozzle directly over the grounds and vacuum them up.
  4. Record a video of this test if you'd like to share it with our team.
Please do not: test the vacuum by covering the nozzle, dust bin, or suction opening with paper or other materials. Doing so does not give you an accurate picture of how the vacuum performs. A vacuum's overall performance is determined by two key factors working together — suction pressure (the force that grips particles) and airflow volume (the air movement that carries them away). Blocking any part of the vacuum restricts airflow volume significantly, which skews the result and does not reflect how the vacuum actually performs in normal use. This is why we don't recommend testing it in your own way — please follow the steps above for a fair and accurate result.

If after a correct coffee grounds test you still feel the suction is faulty, or the vacuum cannot pick up any coffee grounds at all, please send us the video at hello@brewingculture.com.au and our team will help you from there.

4

The charging indicator light isn't coming on when I plug it in.

The charging indicator on the BC Barista Coffee Vacuum (model V08) works as follows:

Battery / Charging State Indicator Light
Low battery Red light flashing
Charging (10–90%) Green light flashing
Nearly full (90–99%) Green light solid
Fully charged (100%) Light off

If the light goes off while charging, this likely means the battery is fully charged — not that charging has failed. This is normal behaviour.

If the light never comes on at any point during charging, please check the cable and charging port, and contact our support team if the issue persists.

5

My vacuum has an Obyx logo, not a Brewing Culture logo — what does that mean?

Great question! The BC Barista Coffee Vacuum originally launched under the Brewing Culture (BC) branding. We later gave the exterior a refresh — some cosmetic improvements to the shell and finish — and moved it into a new line called Obyx.

Obyx is a new series by Brewing Culture, born from the idea of blending coffee with lifestyle. It sits under the BC family and will continue to grow with new products.

The important thing to know: the internals have not changed at all. Whether your vacuum carries a BC logo or an Obyx logo, the motor, performance, and functionality are identical. The only difference is in the exterior finish.

So if you ordered from us and received an Obyx-branded vacuum, everything is exactly as it should be.
